Alright today I want to talk highlighter or “complexion enhancer.” I have been on the hunt for a good highlighter to add some shimmer and compliment my newfound contouring routine. For a while I was using a super cheap powder highlighter which worked fine but wasn’t as subtle as I would like. While powder is fine, it’s very easy to over do it and make your face look like a disco ball. But to me, the liquid highlighters didn’t seem to work since I usually have to wear quite a bit of foundation and concealer and adding liquid on top of that makes it look odd.
In one of my sample purchases I had a little bottle of Benefit’s High Beam Luminescent Complexion Enhancer and thought I would give it a try. The tube of shimmery pink liquid has a little brush attached to the cap so you can paint it on your face. You want to apply it to places you want to stand out like at the top of the cheekbones and about an inch under your eyes. The best way to go is to dot it on but lines are good as well since you will be blending it in.
At first I thought it was kind of concentrated but then I blended it and found that it dispersed leaving a great almost glowing finish. Even better is that is worked with my foundation/concealer routine well leaving the bottom layer undisturbed.
I would definitely recommend this product. I suggest getting it in a sample size first to see if you like the way it looks, Benefit has several different illuminating products which probably work better with different skin tones. I always recommend getting samples to try at home because you make your best decisions in your normal lighting and without sales ladies hovering around.
My one gripe is that a bottle costs £19.50 which seems a little pricey but I’m sure it would last quite a while as I’ve been using the tiny sample bottle for several weeks already.
