Accessorizing you neck has never been hotter. Along with the super trendy embellished collar trend big bold necklaces are everywhere.
Bib necklaces, collar necklaces and other statement pieces are a great way to accessorize a simple look and can definitely start a conversation.
The best part about accessorizes like a bold necklace is that you can take chances– add a bright color, studs, tons of sparkle and it doesn’t overwhelm you. Accessories are a way of expressing yourself without having to drop a ton of money on a new outfit. But the best part; they ALWAYS fit and never make you feel fat. Accessory shopping is always fun.
Here are a few of my favorite pieces as well as a few of my favorite retailers for bold necklaces; there are far too many great pieces to fit into one blog post.
I just discovered the beautiful accessories by Amrita Singh and I am glad I did. This simulated lapis and turquoise necklace is breathtaking. This piece is bright and beautifully made, sitting flat on your chest adding a huge splash of color to any outfit. Amrita Singh is a fantastic place to find bright, unique pieces.
Another way to approach the statement necklace trend is to go for a collar style piece. I love this piece by Rock and Republic. This collar style necklace features crystal pyramids in gold, silver and copper. This is a edgy look that will definitely stand out. The use of a variety of metallics makes this the perfect addition to any look and can be accessorized with virtually any other metallic piece.
This piece is slightly more expensive than the others but it is stunning. This necklace from Henri Bendel (my absolute favorite accessories retailer) is gorgeous. Unlike the pieces by Amrita Singh this look is much more simple with a single strand of gemstones that gradually grow towards the front. This look is both classic and bold with a pop of color and sparkle. The best part is it comes in four colors including the classic crystal for a more formal occasion.
Looking for something a little more feminine and whimsical? This piece by Betsey Johnson is a great example. This gold tone glass beaded flower necklace is both fun and chic. The flowers are made of beautiful beading and look almost real. This is a great piece to wear with a flirty dress to welcome in the spring.
Statement necklaces come in a variety of shapes and sizes. This longer look by Rock and Republic is a great example of a longer, multi-strand look. The cascading chains with intermittent charms and beads is edgy and chic.
Let’s not forget about the bib necklace! This piece from Forever 21 is a great example of a beaded, faceted bib necklace. Bib necklaces are exactly what they sound like, bold necklaces that are worn almost like a bib. Great bib necklaces always feature a ton of great beading, gemstones and embellishments. An allover beaded look like the one above, or a fabric bib with embellishments are my favorite ways to wear this trend. A good bib necklace should sit flush on the chest and start right at the base of the neck.
A great statement necklace is a necessity. I myself have a variety of great pieces in a number of lengths and colors made in a variety of styles. Statement necklaces don’t have to be expensive, in fact you should always buy costume pieces for this trend or you will go broke. Tons of national and international retailers have great pieces to compliment some of their winter collections. Since the piece is so exaggerated it is expected the gemstones and metals be fake. Looks like these can start from $10 at Forever 21 or Charming Charlie and can approach the hundreds as you get into more luxury retailers like Amrita Singh and Henri Bendel; it all depends on the occasion and your budget.
