According to the always reliable iPhone weather it’s a brisk 27 degrees here in Massachusetts.
If you haven’t already, now would be a great time to stock up on some cold weather accessories to keep you warm through January and February.
Looking great should be on your mind but staying warm always gets the priority when the temperature is below freezing. Luckily tons of brands make awesome cold weather accessories you can mix and match all season.
You can accent your look with touches of faux-fur for a glam look, add some soft knit gloves and a scarf for a cozy look, or cover yourself in cashmere for a chic look.
Whatever your taste and price range there is most certainly something out there for you. Here are a few of my favorites for this winter.
Starting things off is this fantastic mixed spot and leopard scarf from ASOS. This scarf is both practical and fun. The bright colors and mix of prints makes this a great addition to a solid color coat. The scarf is also great for the elements, made of a soft knit and fully machine washable.
Though I am not a fan of adding a lot of fur or faux-fur to an outfit a fur trimmed hat, gloves, or coat are fabulous. I am in love with this faux rabbit trapper hat from Saks Fifth Avenue. This hat will definitely keep you warm while out shopping or waiting to catch the train. Though this piece is $75 the trapper hat is a very common design and can be found virtually everywhere. I have seen a few cheap knit looks at Target for under $20. But of course if you want the high quality details, like the well made faux-fur, you have to pay a little extra.
A great item to have this winter is a warm pair of gloves you can use your phone with! These basic knit texting gloves by Bop are a great basic. In this variation the knit gloves have removable tips to the index finger and thumb allowing you to use your phone without having to take your gloves off (and risk losing one). You can also find texting gloves in other varieties depending on your personal style. If you are looking for something more sporty and warm check out gloves from The North Face and Kohls, both have great selections.
A great way to add a little detail to any pair of boots this season is with some knit boot cuffs. These reindeer fairisle boot cuffs from Accessorize are cheap ($11.50) and can change the look of any pair of boots. They are essentially knit pieces of fabric that wrap around the top of your boots. The cuffs add a little extra warmth as well as style!
You should have a warm coat already but if you don’t or need another this one from Staring At Stars is great. This long sherpa parka will definitely keep the cold out. It comes in the grey variation (above) or a great plaid with brown trim. This coat features a fully lined hood as well as high button neck. This is a great coat for everyday wear and looks great with a pair of jeans or over a dress.
My absolute favorite winter accessory is the snood. I love snoods because they are warm and also fun to say! This fairisle snood from Accessorize is a great example of the trend. Fairisle is a classic cold weather print and can be seen complementing winter accessories across brands. Snoods are great because unlike a typical scarf they don’t have loose ends to hide or tuck and they fit snug around the neck.
