The Limited has come a long way in the last five years.
In the fall of 2008 as a college student in need of a part-time job I began working at The Limited. Even though I have a full-time job now I still maintain employment because I love the environment and the product so much.
When I first started at The Limited it was a brand looking for an identity after being recently sold from Limited Brands and many locations closed. In the last five years I have seen the brand grow and truly find its way with more modern collections and styling that has really emphasized the brand’s fashion-forward, yet classic message.
So far for spring we have seen a number of trends from The Limited including bold black and white looks, bright pops of color, pale mints and oranges, bold corals, and now sleek and elegant white based textured pieces.
The most recent collection is a combination of white base pieces with detailed textures paired with pale yellows and minty blues.
This first look is a great spring into summer outfit. I love the lightness of the blouse with the tropical print. I love a two-tone tropical print because it doesn’t scream Hawaiian vacation, it is still classy and classic. The white ankle pants are also perfect for the season and looks great with flats or heels. The metallic detail on the pants goes great with the sheen of the blouse. This is a simple and fresh look that will work great into the warmer months.
I can’t get enough of the blue/white print! This dress is beautiful and perfect for a spring or summer event like a wedding. The dress is cut well but not tight, it comes in at the waist with a tie belt touch and flares out at the knee for a lighter look. The dress also features a great cowl neck making it perfectly appropriate for any occasion including an Easter mass.
Next up is a great day or work look. One of the big trends The Limited is stressing with this new collection is mixing textures and materials to create an allover neutral look that is anything but bland. The jacket is a very versatile one-button ponte knit and would look great paired with a number of looks. The top is a mixed material piece with the base colors of off white and gold creating a subtle sheen. Finally the pencil skirt is a matte, super chic leopard print in natural tones. Separately these are all great pieces but together they create a chic neutral look. This look is both simple and complicated. Accessorize sparingly with maybe a bracelet or ring and small stud earrings. The look is clean so bulky, bright jewelry will only interrupt that.
This next look is great for a casual event. I am obsessed with ankle pants for spring, they are flattering and make you look incredibly put together. The key is cut. Ankle pants have to be slim and well fitted like on the model above. You have to make sure they aren’t baggy and don’t flare out too much at the bottom. The idea length is right at the ankle bone or a bit above. The blue ankle pants paired with the beige lace panel top is a great color combination. The addition of the orange contrast necklace finishes off the outfit nicely.
The Limited is a great place to shop for quality, well tailored pieces at a reasonable price. The brand’s suiting is the nicest and most affordable you will find in a number of modern and classic styles. Have more questions? Find a store and talk with a sales associate. Limited associated are trained to know everything about the product and will dress you, explain new trends, and recommend pieces that complement your shape.
