This next post is partly inspired by my newfound goal to be part of a witch coven. How fabulous do modern witches look? Tons of black, flowing fabrics, sheer, veils, gloves, hats, black pumps — heaven!
Of course if you aren’t in a coven you might want to tone it down a bit. This post is dedicated to the combination of black and sheer materials, perfect for the holidays or any occasion where you would normally be looking for a little black dress.
Sheer seems to always be in style in the fall and winter. Sheer panels are a great way of adding a sexy touch to a dress or top and a fantastic replacement for the horrendous cutout trend that has been everywhere this year (seriously, who can even pull that off?). So sit back, relax, and let me show you a few great ideas available in stores and online retailers now!
First up is this super hot number from ASOS Curve. First off, I would kill to have this model’s body, and second how fabulous is this look? I love the body hugging pencil shape and bardot neckline. The rouched mesh insert adds a little extra oomph to this look. Without the mesh panel this dress might be a little too sexy for some but the addition of the panel makes it wearable for everyone! I also love the added belt because it’s not too flashy to take away from the dress but creates a waistline for someone without the perfect proportions.
Up next is another look from ASOS, this time a great smock dress. This look features a simple solid black smock dress with spotted sheer overlay over the entire dress with an asymmetrical hem. Once again the sheer fabric starts higher on the neck than the crew neckline of the dress. This touch, that is featured on many dresses this season, makes wearing a lower neckline easier for everyone. I am in love with this look because it is both classy and a little whimsical.
Neeeeext is this cute dress by Factory. This halter dress features a sheet lace panel from the neck to the waist with eyelash lace trim and a braided leather belt. The fit and flare makes this dress perfectly romantic for the season! Wear this to a party or event with heels or flats or even some great ankle boots, looks great with them all. Wear your hair down and minimal jewelry for a more casual look or up with shimmering earrings for a more dressy look.
Here we have a great look from Express. This dress has everything; a plunging v-neck, lack, metallic detail, and long sleeves. Somehow it all works together perfectly. This dress is definitely on the sexy side but is certainly not tasteless. The coverage on the arms, even if provided by a sheer fabric, really gives a short dress a lot of added class.
Next up is a little more hippie-chic than the others with great sheer sleeves! This look from Urban Outfitters is a little black dress with a bohemian feel. With the high neckline and elastic waist it fits the body well while having some volume. The sheer slowing sleeves are the perfect volume. But the front can be deceiving! The back is open and sheer with a tie at the neck, a great contract from the more conservative front.
I am done for now but don’t forget to check out some more of my black sheer picks on my Sheer Cheer list on Shopcade! Happy shopping!
