All week I thought about what trend I wanted to write about and the answer was on my feet all along.
I have a passion for buckles. Namely short boots with tons of decorative buckles. Whenever I see a short black pointed toe boot with buckles I think, weirdly, about my love for the band The Horrors when they dressed like gothic dandies way back in 2006. Musicians have weird tastes in fashion and their look during that era is still my favorite to this day.
ANYWAY, boots with buckles are always a great choice. I tend to shy away from other buckled-shoes because they drift into the tacky category easily. So, onward!
The black pair pictured above is my ideal buckled boot. These are from the Sam & Libby collection at Target so they’re cute and cheap! I have the black pair and paid only a little more than $20 (yay after holiday sales!) but I have yet to find the brown in store. I love this look because the buckles are the details and the rest of the boot is simple. I love the black the most because the material is more durable in the winter. You may think spending $20 on boots is a waste because they will just get ruined faster but that isn’t always true; I have a pair of boots from H&M I got at least 4 years ago for only $19 and I still wear them all the time.
Next up are these super cute ankle boots by Free People. These are made from quality leather and a center zipper with double buckle detail. They also come in black but I am really loving the oxblood color. These go great with skinnies or ankle jeans or a cute casual dress. These are a great investment because they are practical for winter but also great to wear in the warmer months with bare legs and a bohemian outfit.
Even though I am passionate about ankle boots I figure I should add something different in here so it isn’t the exact same style over and over again. For high boots I love these from INC at Macy’s. They are simple but have the great buckle detail at the ankle. In a higher boot you want to keep the buckle details low otherwise you will look like you just emerged from Hot Topic.
