Finally it is starting to look like fall in New England. The leaves are changing color, giving us that beautiful fall scenery the area is known for.
Fall is my favorite season for several reasons one being fall fashion. There is no fashion trend I look forward to more than bulky knits, boots and funky tights. I have already amassed a ridiculous collection of tights: opaque in all colors of the rainbow, houndstooth, lace, leopard printed, argyle, polka dot, pinstripe, sheer and every other pattern you could possibly think of.
Since I spend my weekends dressing people head to toe in clothing from The Limited I guess there is no better place but my own blog to share some of my favorites from the store.
First is the split-neck tunic sweater. I love this because not only is it ridiculously warm but it is simple and can be worn throughout the season. For short people like me this tunic looks great with leggings and mid-calf to knee-high boots. The split-neck also gives you that cozy feel of a turtle or cowl neck without the bulk and suffocation.
Next is the knit-tipped jacket aka the school-boy jacket. This comes from The Limited’s London inspired collection for fall. What I love about this jacket is that it is both casual and classy. The different color choices fit with all the trendy fall colors like burgundy and navy. I am also a huge fan of the sleeve length, perfect for fall.
As for outerwear I am obsessed with the military inspired cape (I also love the hot pink pants which I wore today). The coat is both warm and stylish with the structure of a peacoat but the ease of a cape. This is a cape even the biggest nay-sayer can get behind, it looks good on everyone.
Another trend that is popping up in every store is the look of leather. The Limited has several great pieces that put leather and workwear together with leather piping on jackets to panels on pencil skirts. A personal favorite of mine is these 678 skinny coated jeans. They are jeans with the sheen and appearance of leather making them look a lot more expensive than they really are.
But of course my favorite fall trend is the mod mini. The look can be worn with sheer tights and heels while in the office and thick sweater tights and boots when you are doing holiday shopping. What I love the most is the versatility – all you have to do is change the tights and shoes and you have a completely new and fresh look.
I truly could not end this post without discussing at least one pair of tights. These are one example of some of the pattern tights that are great for winter and fall. I am obsessed with houndstooth, but when I want to wear it a little more subtly, rather than on my entire body, I can throw these on with a solid dress and make my statement that way.
This post could really go on forever but I will stop it now. To shop even more looks head to The Limited’s website or better yet, head into a store! Sales associates love dressing clients – trust me.
